Hosomi Museum is a privately-run museum which opened in March 1998 in Okazaki, Kyoto through three generations’ worth of collections beginning with late Ryo Hosomi, an entrepreneur in Osaka and founder of Koko-an Tea House. A wide variety of mainly Japanese artwork can be found at Hosomi Museum, and from this collection 93 of the best pieces—including 5 which are designated Important Cultural Properties—will be displayed at this exhibition. Step into the opulent and elegant world of Japanese art with works by Edo Period artists Jakucho Ito, Sotatsu Tawaraya, Korin Ogata, and Hoitsu Sakai, as well as Buddhist artwork, narrative paintings from the Heian Period, and beautiful craftwork such as Noh costumes, tea ceremony pots, and maki-e.
