A ONE HOUR STANDING FOR
A video installation work and live performance by Michikazu Matsune and David Subal.
The pair have been presenting works and doing many kinds of projects together since 2004. This current work will include the photographs taken while standing continuously for an hour at tourist spots from 24 capital cities around the world in the same space as Matsune and Subal while they stand for one hour.
Michikazu Matsune and David Subal
The work on display will be a mixture of the fields of live performance and visual art. A project of theirs that involved a store selling performances, titled 'store' has up until now been performed in 11 countries. Another project, 'WIN FOR U!', where the audience members can receive things from a lottery involved the winners going on a ferris wheel and bungee jumping together with Matsune and Subal. The top prize involved the winner going to the resort island of Ibiza with Matsune and Subal for a weekend trip, with the travel diary from the trip becoming a visual work. Besides this they also presented an installation work which featured two horses in the inner court of the former imperial family's exclusive horse training facility in Vienna (now a museum and theatre). In a project they did in Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City they made Vietnamese cuisine inside the gallery which the audience was then able to eat. They also did a project at Judson Church in New York with the homeless people living on the streets around the church.
B RUNNING SUSHI
This is a work by the “Liquid Loft” company that was first performed in 2006 in Vienna. As the title suggests, this work's idea came from Japanese culture. The story is not told along a predetermined time-base but, just like customers can freely choose ingredients at conveyor-belt sushi, the audience selects the order in which the story plays out and creates the stage for a new story.
Liquid Loft
Liquid Loft was formed in 2004 by Austrian choreographer Chris Haring at the heart of the group, along with musician Andreas Berger, dramaturge and lighting technician Thomas Jelinek, and dancer Stephanie Cumming.
Liquid Loft was triggered by contemporary dance with various types of modern art in the background and using improvisational styles they created something of their own.
Liquid Loft's performances have been held in countries all over the world in places such as Paris, London, Frankfurt, Tel Aviv, Vienna, Budapest, Venice, Seoul and Shanghai.
