Toshimi Taniwaki – ‘Nagoya Castle made from Coral’: treasure from the collection of the Coral Museum

Kochi is blessed by nature, and has long enjoyed a prosperous agricultural and forestry industry. Through care and skill, Kochi people have coexisted with nature for centuries. Even as primary industries have steadily declined, Kochi remains the home of many unique products characterized by our bold initiative and the technical skills handed down through the generations. Kochi is serious in its commitment to passing on artistic traditions. This exhibition features some of the tradition that has sprung up in Kochi. We hope that you get a sense of the high level of artistry achieved in our prefecture, and enjoy the unique character of these works. We look forward to welcoming you.
